I had the joy of heading up to Laguna this week, such a gorgeous part of California! I was going to take a glimpse of the beautiful work by Jill Rosoff of Rosoff Artworks. Jill is a watercolor artist of extraordinary talent. You may think of watercolor as a washed out blend of pale colors on paper, but let me tell you Jill's work is leagues ahead of that!
Jill paints jewels. It is as simple at that. Her works of watercolor are detailed, festivals of colorful joy for the eye. I "oooohhh" and "aaahhh'd" my way through her huge body of work. I kept adding more paintings to the pile of work for her show this October. There were so many jewels to chose from! I even set aside a few for myself to purchase.
Standard watercolor does not have the detail that Jill's work captures. She also works in large format which is a rarity for watercolor. When I walked into her studio, my jaw dropped as I saw a huge piece on her wall, and it is gorgeous.
Looking at her large piece that depicted tulips, I thought to myself, "This is the type of work that should be in healing spaces, DR's offices and hospitals." The watercolors are so soothing, interesting and colorful, all important factors to consider when purchasing art for healing spaces. I can't stand much of the art that is selected for DR"s offices. They need Jill's work to put the patients at ease and help them pass the time by having something interesting and joyful to look at! Just a thought.
Save the date of October 15th from 6-9 for Jill's GoSee at Glimpse. (A "GoSee" is an event that you must "go see" for it will be so fantastic that you can't miss it) Jill will also be giving an artist's talk the same day as her GoSee. Come here all about her technique and inspirations.
